GORA MBOUP

Dr. Mboup has more than 25 years of international development experience. He is the President and CEO of Global Observatory Linking Research to Action (GORA) Corp. He has also served as the Chief of the Global Urban Observatory of the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN Habitat) and as a Senior Coordinator of the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program, implemented by Macro International and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Dr. Mboup has served as a keynote speaker on smart sustainable cities in several international conferences, including the Sustainable City Foundation, Smart Child-Friendly Cities, and Smart Mobility. He introduced the notion of Smart Urban Observatory through real time information. 

Dr. Mboup has co-authored numerous publications, including three books on Smart Economy in Smart Cities, Springer (2016, 2018, and 2019); Urban Planet Book, Cambridge University Press, 2019; and the Digital Urbanization and the End of Bid Cities with UN Habitat, 2006 and 2013. He also co-authored four series on the state of world cities including, the City Prosperity Index (CPI); Bridging the Urban Divide; Harmonious Cities; Streets as Public Spaces and Drivers of Urban Prosperity. He is the lead author of the U20 Affordable Housing white paper, “Securing Affordable Housing Delivery in Cities: Investing for Better Outcomes.”

Dr. Mboup has a PhD and a master’s degree in demography (population, health, economics, and statistics); an engineering degree in statistics; and a bachelor’s degree in economics and a first degree in mathematics and physics.
