Anil MISHRA

Community Medicine and Epidemiology Advisor

Dr. Mishra has over 25 years of experience in Community Medicine with a primary focus in Maternal and Child Health (MCH). He has extensive experience in health systems strengthening projects funded by bilateral agencies. Dr. Mishra has worked with multiple national and international organizations, including the Indian Army, WHO, CARE, PATH, Save the Children, IPE Global, BD India, ORC Macro and ICF International. He played a key role in two consecutive Demographic & Health Surveys in India, the National Family Health Survey, in an advisory capacity. He is also experienced in program management, conceptualization, design, and policy advocacy.


Dr. Mishra contributed to developing the Nutrition Mission Action Plan for the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Mishra has taught public health to medical and healthcare managers as a visiting faculty—and currently teaches public health and community medicine at a medical school in Bhopal. Dr. Mishra worked as the Regional Technical Advisor—Infection control with Becton Dickinson. He developed the Safe Injection Practice guidebook and received the ‘Asia Pacific Star Team Award’ for outstanding contribution to Becton Dickinson. 


He has published books and technical reports for national and international organizations and has served on several task forces and technical committees. He is the author of Basics of Epidemiology-Concepts Made Simple, and co-author of Basics of Community Medicine. He is also the editor of ‘Guidebook of Safe Injection Practices’ published by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. 


Dr. Mishra is a member of the International Practitioner- Faculty of Public Health and the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom. He has an MBBS and an MD degree (Community Medicine) from the Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College, India.
